A Latvian billionaire created a housing development in Cēsis, Latvia, about 80km from the capital, Riga, where he purchased over 3000 hectares of wild forest.
He created an “eco” village, calling it “Amatciems”.
Such project is quite unique for Latvia. No fencing and no asphalted roads are allowed. Only ecological, clean, and wooden construction materials were allowed in this terrain rich in hills and water. The resulting residential community is comprised of three-story houses that are in harmony with the topography.
As the founder says:
Here dominates nature. Not a man.
